MORE MIRA

“I write so I won’t forget. I write so I can return to a moment, learn from it, seek answers, or be with love again in the present. My music comes from the places my heart keeps revisiting: endings, beginnings, grief, freedom, memory, pleasure, and pain. Each time I return, I see something new. The pain and the pleasure both lead me back to the same passion.”

~ Mira Black

Mira’s Western Canadian Music Award-nominated album, MIRA, moves outside any neatly defined genre. Written across two years in Chicago and produced by Chicago house music pioneer Vince Lawrence, the album carries elements of ambient electronica, contemporary soul, poetic storytelling, and raw emotional confession.

The sound is spacious and intimate, built from sparse stop-and-start beats, atmospheric textures, and Mira’s unmistakable vocal presence. Rather than crowding the songs, the production gives her lyrics room to rise. Each track feels close, vulnerable, and alive.

At its centre, MIRA is an album about truth, survival, heartbreak, forgiveness, sensuality, and the difficult work of becoming whole. It does not turn away from dark or complicated material. Instead, it brings those experiences into the light, where grief, desire, love, and repair can be heard with greater honesty.

“Mira’s voice will change the way you experience music.”

~ Vince Lawrence

Working together became a process of excavation. Lawrence describes the project as sound design built around Mira’s intense vocals, raw compositions, poetic lyrics, and proudly honest storytelling. The goal was not to hide behind production, but to strip away excess and reach the emotional core of each song.

For Mira, writing is both artistic practice and inner transformation. Her songs speak from childhood conditioning, heartbreak, personal divinity, survival, and true love. They return to the moments that shaped her, not to stay trapped inside them, but to listen again, understand differently, and make something beautiful from what once felt impossible to hold.

Mira’s art is a labour of love in the truest sense of the word.

“The more authentic and conscious I can be with my experience, listening to the voice of the silence, the more it can touch yours. And then we are together, even on the darkest roads.”

~ Mira Black

Mira now brings this depth back to the live stage, embracing the soul of the troubadour, the intimacy of jazz and folk, the pulse of electronic music, and the theatrical power of spoken word. Her work continues to unfold through songs, stories, and performances that invite the listener into truth, tenderness, and the authentic voice.
