Mental Health Shmentalhealth!

I brought a rose
from your vase
into my bedroom.
One of those little ones,
petals still clung together
after that wicked storm,
longing for the day
when time turns
each velvety,
coloured page
to bravely face
the whole wide world.
There are no thorns
here yet.
Right now,
we get the kind of moment
worthy of your breath,
and the call of angels
nestled in your throat,
waiting for you
to let go
and be loved.
Those worn,
wanting hands
can readjust
around a valiant bouquet,
perfumed by the scent
of our play,
inhaled
while fresh air
caresses my face.
Dreams slide
from black and white
to that full spectrum
we took for granted
when we were small,
when having it all
still sounded possible,
before life showed us
how it blooms
through every
single
choice
and the gathering
of gambled chances.
So ask me
to kiss
each precious tear
and I will tell you
about your next heartbreak,
maybe found
in a single spark
laying in wait
under sweet harmonies
made from laughter
and too much red wine.
I want to see
the shine of life
sparkle in your eyes
like early morning dew,
even if it disappears
come afternoon
and leaves me
with a daydream
of your
skin,
shining,
sweaty,
ready for more,
dazed
in the curiosity
of what this is for
and how much
we are allowed
to keep.
These cut flowers
do smell sweet,
even as they lean
toward leaving,
and remind me
of your breath
on my cheek,
the fragrance
of mystery
and potential
changing each day
as I hold my breath
and pray
for an awakening
of trust
inside gentle nights,
slow dancing
to some strange new tune
neither of us
has ever heard
before.
